The largest and most fertile of the Cyclades with a permanent population of 21,000, Naxos is characterised by fertile valleys and rugged peaks, the highest of which, Mount Zeus, rises to over 1000 metres.
There are several fine sandy beaches including Aghios Georgios, Aghios Prokopis and Aghia Anna. The main town of Naxos has a rich and varied history from ancient times as evidenced by the landmark temples of Apollo (which was never completed) to the old Venetian neighbourhood of Kastro.
The lovely Trogaea region of the island boasts several unspoilt villages and beautiful scenery, whilst the journey to the village and resort of Apolonas on the north coast winds through spectacular mountain scenery, well worth the trip.
Conveniently located 250m from the sandy beach of Aghios Georgios, 1km from Naxos Town and 2kn from the port, the Porto Naxos is perfectly situated to explore the picturesque villages and gardens of Naxos Town.
