Best of Kefalonia

8 days, 7 night(s), from only £513

This unspoilt garden Island is the largest of the Ionian Islands and a true delight for those seeking a more traditional picture of Greece.

The scenery is rugged and dramatic with towering mountains, backed by a wine dark sea. The island boasts a unique species of fir forest, whilst there are hundreds of species of wild flowers, including 60 different orchids. The scent of thyme, oregano, bay leaves and aromatic flowers is everywhere.

The pleasant harbour of Argostoli is the islands capital and gateway to a deep Fjord, though the most attractive settlement is arguably the small harbour town of Fiscardo on the North coast with it's Venetian buildings and pretty harbour.

There are several fine beaches, For those interested in culture and history there are Byzantine monasteries, ruined castles, a collection of ancient ruins and interesting small museums. Melissani cave with its impressive subterranean lake is worth a visit. However it is the breathtaking scenery and the hospitable people that make Cephalonia such an excellent choice.
